# OISF Suricata PPA does not support Ubuntu 24.04 (noble)

Following the Ubuntu installation instructions won’t work on the latest LTS Ubuntu release (noble - 24.04). This is because the OISF PPA for Suricata on Launchpad does not support this Ubuntu release. Is there any plan to publish packages (suricata-6.0, suricata-7.0, suricata-stable) for Ubuntu 24.04, or do I have to use the “official” Ubuntu package ([Ubuntu – Details of package suricata in noble](https://packages.ubuntu.com/noble/suricata))?

Thanks for update @pevma. I assume that there is no plan to add Noble to the supported distributions for Suricata 6 ([Index of /oisf/suricata-6.0/ubuntu/dists](https://ppa.launchpadcontent.net/oisf/suricata-6.0/ubuntu/dists/))?

It should be available under the `suricata-6` repo ([suricata-6.0 : OISF](https://launchpad.net/~oisf/+archive/ubuntu/suricata-6.0/)) , but as mentioned - [Suricata 6 is now end of life (EOL)](https://forum.suricata.io/t/suricata-6-is-now-end-of-life-eol/4790) it is EoL

As of now 2026 do suricata 8.0 have ppa/oisf support for ubuntu 24.04
