# WinSuricata: New WinSuricata Operations Console

Over at [Winsnort.com](http://Winsnort.com) We are excited to announce a major update to the package with the introduction of the **WinSuricata Operations Console** , replacing the previous standalone WinSuricata Rules Updater installer.

This new utility brings all your essential controls into a clean, intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) while maintaining familiar access via your Start Menu shortcut.

**Key New Features & Enhancements**

- **Advanced SMTP Email Notifications:** Added configuration options for email alerts on **Success** , **Failure** , and **No Change**. The No Change option helps to cut down on unnecessary email clutter. You can easily toggle the No Change notification on or off and test your SMTP configuration instantly with a dedicated **Test SMTP** button.
- **Suricata Pro Key Integration:** A simple checkbox and entry field have been added to integrate your Suricata Pro key directly for seamless rule updates.
- **Automated Scheduled Tasks:** Easily set up or manage automated rule updates via scheduled tasks (configured for 15-minute intervals plus offsets) with a single toggle.
- **Full-Featured Rules Update:** The **Run Manual Update** and scheduled update functions perform the complete suricata-update process with all the bells and whistles of the previous Suricata Rules Updater. For a full rundown of the update process, please refer to the README-INSTALL.txt file included in the package.
- **Real-Time Information Window:** A built-in status window provides detailed, live feedback as actions are performed and buttons are selected, keeping you informed every step of the way.

**Console Button Guide**

1. **Save Configuration:** Saves all selected settings, preferences, and adjustments.
2. **System Diagnostics:** Executes a comprehensive diagnostic routine on your system setup.
3. **Run Manual Update:** Triggers an immediate, full suricata-update process on demand.
4. **Remove & Disable:** Cleans up all configurations, removes settings, and disables active features.
