Hey all. Topic
I’m sure Debian 13.5 and Suricata will run just fine, my concern is over time maybe something like cmake doesn’t get upgraded, but a new version will be required for the latest Suricata (cmake is just an example). Has anyone run into something like this on Debian? Thank you.
Yeah, especially on Debian the issue is the version of the rust compiler. Generally within a stable Suricata branch (like 8.0.x) we’ll try very hard to make it work on the same distro versions during the lifetime of the branch. But in major upgrades we’ll leave older distro versions behind.
Since rust is the only one that caused issues lately, we’re tracking that here for 9: Task #7745: rust: set new minimum Rust version for Suricata 9.0 - Suricata - Open Information Security Foundation
Thank you! (20 character minimum)
