Modern network environments demand both performance and security, but configuring high-speed IDS setups has traditionally required deep system knowledge. In this webinar, Lukas Sismis shows how Suricata 8.0 improves that.
The first part of the webinar introduces several Suricata 8.0 deployment-focused enhancements aimed at making Suricata setups faster to configure. Lukas will walk you through key features such as automatic DPDK configuration as well as Hyperscan pattern caching, which significantly eases configuration and improves startup time. The second part of the webinar focuses on how to securely run Suricata with DPDK as a non-root user in a Linux environment to adopt more secure practices in the deployment.
Lukas Sismis is a team member of the open source Suricata project, a PhD candidate, and a senior software engineer focused on accelerating network packet processing and optimizing system performance. His work spans systems programming, hardware offloading, and zero-copy networking. He is passionate about building high-performance network detection systems and mentoring the next generation of open-source users and contributors in the space of cybersecurity.
