Suricata-Update error

Hi I am trying to run suricata-update command bit getting this everytime

Failed to fetch https://rules.emergingthreats.net/open/suricata-6.0.4/emerging.rules.tar.gz: <urlopen error [SSL: CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED] certificate verify failed: self-signed certificate in certificate chain

What OS and/or distribution are you using? And how did you install Suricata?

@ish I am using Ubuntu 20.04
I installed using 6.0.4 tar file and followed steps with Napatech Installation

2 thoughts:

  • Is your Ubuntu up to date? If no, the install CA certificates could be old, causing this error. I think the package is ca-certificates.
  • Are you maybe going through a proxy that is using a self signed certificate?
  • Failing the above, you could try adding the command line option --no-check-certificate.
