SuriCon 2025 Sponsor Shoutout: Community Leader - OPNsense

Hey all!

As you all know, SuriCon wouldn’t be the same without our sponsors.

In consonance with that spirit, for 2025, our long time SuriCon sponsors OPNsense come back as Community Leader and Speaker Dinner Sponsor – a big thank you for all the support! :sparkles:

OPNsense is an open source, feature rich firewall and routing platform, offering cutting-edge network protection, that integrates Suricata as part of their solution.

We invite everybody to check their solutions, and also learn more about them during SuriCon!

Haven’t registered for SuriCon 2025 yet?

This year we are bringing thee different training sessions, including one with amazing community members David Wharton and Travis Green. It’s also much easier to get your discount for the trainings to refine your Suri skills: Trainings – SURICON

Hi @jufajardini , thanks very much for the announcement message, this looks very interesting for the event itself and also for the cooperation about Suricata. Wondering if that moment could be a good time to suggest or discuss feature requests ?

Personally, there is one thing that I miss in OPNsense, that’s Evebox - it’s such a great tool to view or handle alerts. Just in case that could be a shared interest in the community

Hi there Alex!

Sponsors usually have representatives around, during SuriCon, and some even bring stands. So I would say there should be a chance for you to chat with them about it, and hear their thoughts on the suggestion.

We hope to see you in Montreal soon!

Thanks for your kind response!

For me, there is no chance that I might personally join this event but, nevermind, wondering if there is an approved or recommended way to suggest feature change / addition and see if that would get (a wider) interest or support in the Suricata community (hopefully  ).

Sorry you can’t join us – but I understand it’s not accessible to everybody, for a variety of reasons.

If you wanted to suggest a feature to Suricata itself, the process could be either publishing it here and asking for feedback from the community, or create a thread on our Discord server. Or even a Redmine ticket.

I imagine that a similar process might be possible with OPNsense? They have a forum where maybe you could try the waters: https://forum.opnsense.org

I hope this helps, and maybe one day we’ll see you at SuriCon!
