December 25 to March 26 Outreachy round: Introduce yourselves here!

Hi there all Outreachy applicants!

Welcome to the Suricata community and forum. We’re happy that you want to learn more about our project and about open source in general.

If you haven’t done so, please go through the pinned post that explains the Outreachy category.

This thread is for all mentors and applicants to introduce themselves, and only that.
If you have any questions or suggestions, check our Outreachy Contribution Rounds FAQ, or create a new topic.

Feel free to choose the length of your introduction. We just want to learn a bit about everybody. I’ll go first. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Hello Suricata Community,

My name is Charles Promise, and I’m thrilled to be joining you as an Outreachy intern. I’ve been matched with the Suricata project, and I’m genuinely excited to start learning, collaborating, and contributing to the work you’re doing here.

I have a background in cybersecurity and software testing, and I’m particularly eager to deepen my understanding of network security monitoring and open-source development through this experience. I’m looking forward to engaging with the team, exploring the codebase, and contributing wherever I can add value.

Thank you for welcoming me, I’m very happy to be here and can’t wait to get started!

Hey Nirnay, welcome to our community!

Please look for tickets that are not assigned to anyone yet, I see that #5711 was claimed by Charles P a day ago. My suggestion is that you look through the tickets that are assigned as Community Tickets

Hi everyone!, My name’s Ezra.

Fashionably late, but finally here  . Guess I took “never late than never” a bit too literally

I’m excited to be part of the Outreachy winter round and to contribute to Suricata.

Looking forward to learning, collaborating, and diving into open source with you all.

Hello there, and welcome! As you’ve pointed yourself, it is indeed a bit late in the process, so you may need to learn and get started on everything somewhat faster.

The good news is that a lot of questions and answers have already happened in our Discord server, so hopefully that may save you some time, too.

Be sure to check the post about the midway checkpoint, that I posted today. And happy contribution phase!
